Eeebee Giveaway and Review

Eebee's adventures is a fun company that designs child products to engage your child and inspire rich play to bring about important lessons. They are all about first hand experience and believe babies learn by doing. Unlike Baby Einstein which has a focus on watching, eebee’s adventures is all about doing! 6t Eebee is a little puppet who plays on th floor with an adult or tot using real, everyday objects! You might see him playing with a brush or piece of paper, for example. The videos aren’t about memorizing ABC’s but instead about exploring.

One thing I really like about these products are that they are for the BABIES not the PARENTS. A lot of products I come across look so cute to the parents, but the babies could care less about them. I’ve found little ones are really drawn to these products because they are about what they are interested in such as balls and laundry!

Until receiving the books for this review, I have to admit that I’d never heard of Eebee. Maybe some of you out there haven’t? I haven’t viewed any of the full length DVD’s but after reading about them had to see what they are all about because they sounded so cool. From reading on line, it sounded like an interactive experience with your little one. So, I headed over to You Tube and found a few videos that are less than 2 minutes in length but I think introduce Eebee pretty well. I have to admit that I may be hooked! I love what I’ve seen of these videos. It’s recommended babies under 2 not watch tv and 2 and older only a couple hours a day. I think what matters is the quality you allow them to watch. Anyway, I want some!
Now, I have had the opportunity to review their very neat books and I want to tell you all about them. They'd make wonderful Christmas presents for sure! I am a book lover and know that one of the most important things you can do for your child is read to them at least one book a day. Sadly, little wild child doesn't agree with my vision. Before having a child, I'd imagined curling up and reading book after book. Well, when toddlerhood started I can only remember a few instances of finishing an entire children's book! She wants to turn the pages, look at the pictures, and well frankly I think gets bored a few pages into it. These books however, keep her attention span. There are only a few words-great words that ask her to interact with the book-and the activities keep her loving the book. She is getting an appreciation for books and the joy they can bring to a life. I review a lot of kid products but haven't seen books like this, with so much interaction. What other books can your kiddo play catch with?

The first item for review is the Peek-A-Boo Adventure Book. The book is geared for ages 9 months and up. It’s a fun little fabric book from the start with eebee hiding behind some curtains that your child can move to reveal a happy little face. There are opportunities to manipulate different objects on every page from lifting the scarf, to opening the vinyl raincoat, sliding a ball, picking up a hat, moving soft blocks, to moving eebee in and out of a mesh tunnel. Unfortunately, I don’t know if words can convey how interactive this book is. Your little one is moving and manipulating with every page! This book received the Parents Choice award Fall 2008 in the Doing and Learning category. It retails for $14.95. This would be great for the little one who likes Peek-A-Boo (or A-BOO as Zhana calls it). When I sat down with my daughter and looked at this book I was very impressed as the giggles kept coming.

Next up is the eebee adventures Have a Ball Book. This book is recommended for ages 9 months and up. On the cover, eebee is holding a ball with velcro and a string attached. Througout the book, the ball goes through several adventures. Little ones can actually play catch with eebee, roll it down a slide, toss it into a mesh basket, hide it behind a crinkle pillow, or even push it in a wagon! Like the book above, this one won a Fall 2008 Parents Choice award in the Doing and Learning Category. It retails for $14.95. Zhana LOVED this book and thought it was so much fun.

Next, is Laundry Time Adventures. This is my daughter's favorite and mine as well. I personally think this book is most appropriate for toddlers because most of them are very interested in laundry. Zhana adores "helping" me fold laundry, put it away, and ect. Every single page is interactive from putting towels in the washing machine to hanging the clothing out to dry! Your little one will load the washer, spin the washing machine, hang the pj's, and even put them away in drawers! We only bring this book out during a special time of day-laundry time. As I mentioned earlier, Zhana likes to "help" me do laundry which usually leads to much more work that if I didn't have my little helper. Instead, I now have her do her own laundry with her little book while I do my laundry. She has enjoyed this quite a bit.

Finally, we have BATH TIME/ALL ABOUT ME SET. The Bath Time book is designed to be played with in the tub. You put the book in water to fill up the squirters and then squeeze it and it sprays. When you press Eebee's belly, he makes a cute squuek. Recently, I attended a baby shower where I presented this set as a gift to the new mom. This book was quite the hit among the mothers as they were excited to find a bath book. Apparently, bath books are difficult to find? I think it is very cute but I think is more appropriate for around age one than toddlers.

The second book in the set is the ALL ABOUT ME book. Every page of the board book is interactive with questions such as "Where's your tummy?" The book comes with a fold-out mirror for your baby to look in. The book is all about body parts and is great for little ones learnilearning this concept.

For those of you that don’t know I have a masters degree in Clinical Psychology and am All but Dissertation completed toward my doctorate in Clincial Psychology, thus companies that use task development and stage explanations for their products earn huge thumbs up from me. Their website really goes beyond just using “jargon” to sell a product though, they discuss tasks and child development for child activities that have nothing to do with their products. For example, on one of their webpages there is a picture of a little girl in her mother’s high heels. The website explains the importance of this moment, how it relates to child development, and how the parent can interact with the moment! I highly suggest you check out the part of their website entitled “Parent Info”. This portion of the website also gives ideas for at home paper adventures, pouring adventures, rolling and sliding adventures, kitchen band, just add water, la la language, and Laundry List of ideas. Such great and cheap ideas! Who would have thought a toy company would be endorsing make-at-home activities? That tells me they are a company with heart and genuine care for our little ones. They also have a great blog, where you can really get to know the company. For example, I think it is great to see the founder playing with his one year old baby girl. BTW, the founder has his own blog about raising his daughter! How many companies do you come across that are like US in that aspect?

You can also watch eebee adventures at Comcast on Demand and at http://www.parents.tv/.

BTW, in case you are wondering Eebee is short for “every baby”. When I started learning about the product, I kept thinking “Why did they choose this name? What is eebee anyway?” However, I finally learned that the name was chosen because of “every baby” and it is a word babies can say.
